Weekly Worship Service Worship is the most obvious manifestation of our faith life here. Every Sunday morning at 10:00am, we gather to sing, pray, read scripture, hear Gods Word preached, dedicate our lives through stewardship and celebrate Communion. This is an essential element of who we are as a people and a church.
Childrens Church During Sunday morning worship, the pastor gives a short sermon to children aged pre-K through 3rd grade. We like to say that this sermon "is in the bag". Each week a child brings in a small blue denim bag. The pastor has no idea what's in the bag until he pulls it out during the start of the childrens sermon, but that's what he has to base his message on! After each sermon, the bag is then given to another child for the next week. Following this short sermon, the children are dismissed for Childrens Church for songs, lessons, and crafts. Childrens Church is not held on the last Sunday of the month or during the Summer months giving the children the opportunity to participate in worship service. At least twice a year during worship service, the children share the songs they have learned during Childrens Church.
Sunday School Sunday School is offered to all ages every Sunday from 9-9:45am prior to worship service. Click on this link to learn more. More...
Nursery Services are available during worship service for
children ages newborn 3 & 4 years. It is staffed by a minimum of two volunteers
who have been associated with the church for at least a year. The Nursery is located
in the south east wing of the Sunday School Wing. Communion The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) celebrates communion during every Sunday worship service. Additionally, we believe in open communion and that all who believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God and their personal savior are encouraged to participate in communion. Typically, young children refrain from partaking in communion until they have a clear understanding of its meaning by participating in Pastors Class prior to being baptized.
Additional Worship Services We celebrate a number of seasonal holy days with special worship opportunities. We celebrate Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Easter Sunrise, and Thanksgiving in a combined worship with other churches in Mackinaw. The times and locations of these special services are noted in our monthly newsletter, The Christian Caller. You may also call or e-mail Rev. Kevin A. Robbins to inquire about times and location of these services. Likewise, we celebrate Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve as a family of faith here. Maundy Thursday service is a candlelight Communion service at 7pm. Christmas Eve is celebrated with carols, sacred story, and candlelight communion at 6:30pm. Please join us for any or all of these services and see the profound impact that they will have on your faith. Donut Sunday is held the first Sunday of each month from 9:30 9:55am in the Fellowship Hall. This program is offered to provide an additional opportunity for fellowship for our members and guests. Donuts and drinks are provided.
